TechBae and Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC are proud to have launched season two of their mentoring program: Career Pathways with TechBae. The program pairs seasoned, professional women from TechBae’s vast network within the Media, Tech, & Advertising ecosystems with rising juniors and seniors in college looking for exposure and entry points. The purpose of the program is to facilitate 1:1 connections to help students grow strategic and tactical skills as they prepare to enter an ever-changing corporate landscape.

“The program helped me to design a career path based on my interests with the assistance of my mentor, Heather. Our conversations taught me the value of networking and putting myself out there without fear of rejection. Taking what I’ve learned from the entire program, I obtained an internship at a modeling agency and then was offered a job. I now have a genuine connection with my mentor and the opportunity to network outside of the program with confidence.”  – Leslie Tacoaman

The members of TechBae believe that networking is undervalued–and hard for many young people to access. Thus, after a successful pilot program with BBBS-NYC in 2021, it was “all systems go” to formalize the program for year two.  Baes, the nickname for members of the organization, have sought opportunities to play an active role in nurturing the advancement of women in media and ad tech.

Heather Campbell, Leslie’s ‘Bae’ mentor who this year stepped in as TechBae’s Mentor Liaison, added that she benefited as much as her mentee. “Leslie’s questions, insights, and energy made me look at the industry from new angles. I’m so thankful we were connected through Career Pathways with TechBae. I loved learning not only from Leslie but also from all of the other mentors and speakers. The structure of the program made it incredibly easy and fun to participate.”
